Essential Wedding Tip #1: Bring a Needle and Thread

I once shot a wedding that was covered by the Life Network (actually I’ve shot a few of those including Rich Bride, Poor Bride, Wedding SOS), but in this particular episode, the premise was as follows. A couple was engaged to be married and were planning their wedding. They had already secured a number of key items for their wedding including a dress. After paying for it, however, the bride learned she was pregnant. Needless to say the dress would require a substantial alteration for it to fit on the wedding day. The show hired a professional seamstress to make alterations ahead of time, but even with this preplanning, there was a scramble on the wedding day to make the dress fit perfectly.
Not every wedding has a professional seamstress on hand the day of the wedding, but that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare yourself with a good old needle and thread. Trust me, even if you don’t need it, you’ll be happy to have it on hand in the event that you do.
